CAN I SELL MY CAR W/ BAD INSPECTION STICKER AND WONT PASS EVEN IF THEY KNOW?

Verdie Wollen: I Think it should be ok to sell it like that and as long as you tell them whats wrong with it, so they know what it needs to be fixed so that it can pass. although u might have to settle for a lower price in odrer to sell it. but i dont know what ur state laws are.

Carlton Lastrapes: You have a couple of options. In California if you fail smog over and over your vehicle may be eligible for the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) vehicle retirement program. Call 800-952-5210 Voluntary Accelerated Vehicle Retirement Program (VAVR) If you would like further information (916) 445-8811. It provides monetary or other incentives to vehicle owners to voluntarily retire their older, more polluting vehicle If the registration is paid up, but no tags because of emissions, you can sell it with REG 256 form Statement of Facts section C. and check Transfer Only box. You can put the car into NON OP or NON USE status. Neither one require proof of insurance. You ! could also change the status to Junked. and part it out. In Short, Yes. You can sell a car AS IS with no guarantee it will ever pass smog. But put it in Writing. And don't forget to sign and turn in a Notice of Release of Liability to the DMV or AAA Auto Club....Show more

Clemmie Burkleo: Great that you're being honorable.Just note on the Bill of Sale; "As Is, no guarantee given or implied."No different than selling for parts or junk.
