Which is better? Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or Technical Services Engineer?

Wilmer Skidmore: Better in what way?Is appears that an AME is a more technical, hands-on role (doing the repairs, etc.), while a Technical Services Engineer is a more analytical and managerial job (develop preventive maintenance programs, do reliability analysis, manage people and information systems, etc.). AMEs require a license, while TSEs require an engineering or comparable university degree, or sometimes an equivalent amount of experience and job progression after first being a licensed engineer. But I'm not 100% sure about this distinction, and I think the titles are probably a little different in different parts of the world. For example, a US "A&P mechanic" and a Canadian "AME" are the same thing. In Europe it appears they talk about a licensed engineer (eg, a "B2 Engineer" or a "B1 Engineer") more often than an "Aircraft Maintenance Engineer"....Show more
